Judy Drive-In 101 Fun facts and Helpful tips to add to your fun of the drive-in! |
The Judy Drive-In opened on July 4, 1952. It has been in continuous operation every
year since. It has become a favorite place to spend the weekend for many in
Mt. Sterling and the surrounding areas. It is a landmark in the community of Judy,
Kentucky, a small rural area close to Mt. Sterling. This is where the Judy
Drive-In gets it's name. Many people think the drive-in was named after a lady
named Judy, and often someone comes into the drive-in and wants to meet Judy, but
alas, the Judy in Judy Drive-In is named after the community in which it is
located. The Judy Drive-In has room for 380 cars, with all given a great view of
the really big screen, which measures close to 80 feet wide and 40 feet high.
Here are some helpful hints to add to your fun of the Judy Drive-In: Come Early. When you come early you'll have your choice of parking and can "settle in" and get comfortable before the movie starts. The concession stand is open and ready to serve you when you arrive, so why not eat dinner with us here at the drive-in? With our family friendly prices, you can treat the whole family to a great meal here at the drive-in. Our menu has something for everyone. Bring a radio. You can hear the movie sound on your car radio, boom-box or walkman. The movies are transmitted to you in FM Stereo. We also have some old-time drive-in speakers, but to hear the movie at it's absolute best, tune in to the FM radio. Some people like to walk around the drive-in and take their radio with them, while others like to set outside their car and have their radio with them. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Feel free to set outside your car and enjoy the movie. For your safety, we recommonend to put your chairs and blankets in front of your car, as someone may be pulling into or out of the spot beside you. The front row provides a great place to spread a blanket. Get a PIC coil. We sell an item at the concession stand called a PIC coil. It keeps the bugs away. You light it and it works for about 4 hours (that's both movies). It's nice to have and is very inexpensive. Don't let a cloud or two stop you from coming out to the drive-in. Unless the power goes out or bad weather will not allow us to continue, the show goes on rain or shine. Summer rains sometimes come and go, so a sprinkle or two doesn't have to dampen the fun! Hope the hints are helpful for you! The drive-in is all about being able to relax
and enjoy yourself. Now drive under 15 miles an hour in the theatre, use your
parking lights, watch out for children and foot traffic, pull into your favorite
spot and have a good time! |
